WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO KNOW

Origin of products

The Cacao - Receive the natural benefits of our 1/2 pound (two blocks, approximately 8 ounces total) 100% Ceremonial Cacao Paste! Made with love in Guatemala, it is full of incredible properties that will activate and heal your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. It is 100% hand-made and blessed by Mayan spiritual guides to ensure all of its incredible properties are contained within and you can experience the heart-opening and spiritually connecting powers of cacao.

The Candles - These traditional Mayan candles are made in Guatemala by Tata Mario, one of the Ajq'ijab' (Maya spiritual leaders). Used in ceremonies and many other traditional practices and rituals, these candles were made in the K'iche' people. They come in the color white, which represents the ability to heal our relationships and connections and release our energy. We chose white because it is the only color that offers versatility in spiritual practice by providing the ability to set any intention desired during spiritual practice.

The Jícaras - Jícaras are the traditional Mayan drinking vessels for cacao. The Popol Wuj (Maya sacred book) tells the story of Junajpu and Ixbalanque, known as the Elders, who teach us how to overcome the trials of Xib'alb'a (the Mayan underworld, which represents our own darkness). They go through a journey of defeating the trials of life and overcoming the parts of ourselves that do not serve our life purpose. They teach us about awareness, determination, and strength. After the twins successfully overcome the trials of darkness, they transform into Jícaras, a type of gourd that grows on a sacred tree. For thousands of years, the Mayans have emptied the gourd and drunk their medicine, such as cacao, from it. The drinking vessel itself is associated with medicinal purposes, so drinking the cacao medicine from it enhances the effects and brings even more healing. These jícaras are 100% handmade by a family in Baja Verapaz, Guatemala.

Application

For the cacao - mix 2-3 tablespoons of ceremonial cacao with a cup of hot water in a blender and blend until frothy!

OR better yet... do it the traditional way and mix your cacao (2-3 tablespoons) with twice the amount of hot (but not boiling) water, stir well until it becomes liquid, then add enough hot water to fill the cup.

Cacao paste can also be used in dishes, smoothies, breakfast bowls, ice cream, energy balls and much more!

For the candles - You can use these candles for your spiritual practices. Use a match or a lighter and hold the bottom of the candle in the fire for a few seconds, then place it on a flat surface. Then light the candle and let it burn until it is completely burned.

For the jícaras - You can use them like any other cup. To wash them, use a normal sponge and soap. DO NOT put them in the dishwasher.

Cacao with meaning

By purchasing this ceremonial cacao, you are not only supporting indigenous peoples through fair trade and ethical consumption, but you are doing much more! The money that goes to the collective is used to pay the workers a wage that preserves their dignity and feeds their families.

It also invests in wonderful projects aimed at giving cacao back to the indigenous communities of Guatemala, who unfortunately have almost lost this part of their tradition. For hundreds of years, it was forbidden to use cacao for ceremonies because it was considered witchcraft. When you buy cacao, we can provide cacao to indigenous peoples for free and educate them on how to use it to fight malnutrition, reclaim their indigenous traditions and recover their ancient wisdom.

In addition, we support projects in indigenous communities, including support for addicts in public rehabilitation centers, cleaning and activating a corridor of ancient Mayan altars that have been abandoned, and individual projects to support specific people in the community who need immediate assistance.
