Immerse yourself in the world of ceremonial cacao with our Fifth Element Original Cacao, a superfood and ancient medicine that not only nourishes the soul but also offers numerous health benefits . The entire production is in the hands of the indigenous Mayan communities, who grow and process the ceremonial cacao by hand according to centuries-old traditions.

100% PURE CEREMONIAL CACAO | ORGANIC | WITHOUT CHEMICALS AND ADDITIVES | VEGAN | FAIR | TRADITIONALLY GROWN AND PROCESSED

NOTE: Due to non-industrial processing, slight fluctuations in quantities may occur.

THE FARM

The cacao is grown in the traditional Mayan way. On the farm, three traditional kotzij' (ceremonies) are held to pay respect to the cacao trees: when it is planted, when it blooms and when it is harvested!
In addition, every person who enters the farm purifies themselves with incense to bring only positive energy to the farm and the ceremonial cacao.

BIODIVERSITY

No chemicals come near the cacao and the farmers only use traditional agricultural methods. The cacao plants grow naturally in the Guatemalan jungle. Part of the cacao production is left to the animals, which help to spread the cacao by excreting the cacao beans. These animals also depend on the cacao as a source of food. In this way, the symbiotic relationship between cacao and the local flora and fauna is respected and promoted.

PRODUCTION

The cacao is hand-processed. From drying in the sun to roasting and peeling to grinding in the traditional metate, every step of the process is done by hand. In addition, the Ajq'ijab' (Mayan spiritual leaders) energize the cacao during the process by cleaning it and using it in traditional spiritual practices that fill it with energy.

PACKAGING

We use a special paper that protects the ceremonial cacao and its aroma. The cacao is then packed in traditional Mayan sacks that provide physical and spiritual protection as it travels around the world to your home. The bags are made by an indigenous artisan workshop.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO KNOW

How ceremonial cacao supports physical & mental healing

Positive effects of ceremonial cacao on the body

Cacao, the raw form of chocolate, is a highly nutritious food that offers numerous potential health benefits for the body.

One of the most important benefits of ceremonial cacao is its high content of antioxidants, particularly flavonoids. These powerful compounds protect the body from harmful free radicals that can damage cells and contribute to the development of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Cacao is also a good source of magnesium, which is important for maintaining strong bones, regulating heart rhythm and supporting a healthy immune system.

In addition to its antioxidant and mineral content, cacao has been shown to have a number of other potential health benefits. For example, it may help reduce the risk of heart disease by improving circulation and lowering blood pressure. Cacao may also have a positive effect on brain function, as it contains compounds that may improve cognitive performance and reduce the risk of age-related cognitive decline.

Cacao is also a good source of fiber, which can help promote regular bowel movements and improve digestion. Finally, cocoa may have a positive effect on mood, as it contains compounds that have been shown to have mood-enhancing effects.

It is advisable to choose minimally processed forms of cacao rather than highly processed chocolate products, which can contain high levels of sugar and unhealthy fats.

Positive effects of ceremonial cacao on the mind

Raw cacao has been shown to have a number of positive effects on the mind and healthy brain function.

One of the most important effects of cacao on the mind is improving cognitive function. Ceremonial cacao and raw cacao contain lots of compounds such as theobromine, which are known to have a stimulating effect on the brain. These compounds can help improve attention, focus and concentration, and may even have a protective effect on the brain against age-related cognitive decline.

Cacao may also have a positive effect on mood. It contains a number of compounds, including anandamide, known as the "happy molecule" for its role in promoting feelings of happiness and well-being. Cacao may also increase levels of serotonin in the brain, a neurotransmitter that helps regulate mood and feelings of happiness and contentment.

In addition to its cognitive and mood-enhancing effects, cacao may also have a number of other benefits for the mind. For example, it has been shown to have a positive effect on blood flow to the brain, which can improve brain function and performance. Cacao may also have a protective effect against stress and anxiety, as it contains compounds that have been shown to have a relaxing effect on the mind and body.

Origin of ceremonial cacao

Our ceremonial cacao is produced by small indigenous busisses made up of members of four Mayan people. Their mission is clear: to make the authentic practices and wisdom of cacao accessible to their community and the world. The collective is made up of Ajq'ijab' (Mayan spiritual leaders), Elders (spiritual leaders who also play the role of leaders and leaders), cacao farmers, historians, experts in the processing of ceremonial cacao, texels (grandmothers who guide the process of cacao production) and other members of the community.

The cacao comes from an old farm in Alta Verapaz owned by members of the Q'eqchi' people. What is an old farm? During the Conquista (conquest of the Americas), the Spanish prohibited the Mayans from using cacao. The cacao farms were torn down and replaced with coffee farms (because this product sold better in Europe), and the Mayans were enslaved and put to work on these new farms. But there was resistance and some cacao farms survived. The farm we get our cacao from is one of these old farms, and the trees are the descendants of trees that were on that farm hundreds of years ago. When planting, special rituals and ceremonies are performed for the trees to follow the steps of traditional cultivation.

Then the ceremonial cacao is taken to the border between the Kaqchikel and Q'iche' nations, where the collective continues the process of processing. Everything is made by hand in the traditional Mayan way. Dried by the sun, roasted by hand in wood fire, peeled, ground in the sacred millstone by indigenous women and grandmothers. But before it is packaged, the Ajq'ijab' (spiritual guides) and Aj Kakaw (guardians of the wisdom of cacao) perform a ceremony with incense and fire, invoking the sacred energies of the Maya to purify, bless and protect this cacao. Then it is packaged and sent to your home!

Preparation of ceremonial cacao

Traditional preparation:

  1. Boil a cup of water (~250 ml) in a kettle or saucepan and let it cool slightly.
  2. Cut 15 - 30g of ceremonial cacao from the block and put it in a cup. The amount of cacao can be increased gradually, but should not exceed 30g per day. TIP: Cut the cacao a little smaller so that it dissolves better.
  3. First, add some of the water (3 - 4 tablespoons) to the cacao and stir everything well until the cacao has dissolved. Feel free to take your time here.
  4. Add the remaining water to the cup and enjoy the wonderful effect of ceremonial cacao on body, mind and soul.

Alternative preparation & tips:

  • Put 15g (or up to 30g) of ceremonial cacao into a blender with 200-250ml of hot water and mix until it foams.
  • Or you can use the raw cacao as an ingredient in foods, smoothies, breakfast bowls, ice cream, energy balls and much more!
  • Alternatively, you can use milk instead of water if the cacao tastes too bitter with water.

Cacao with meaning

By purchasing this cceremonial cacao, you are not only supporting indigenous peoples through fair trade and ethical consumption, but you are doing much more! The money that goes to the collective is used to pay the workers a wage that preserves their dignity and feeds their families.

It also invests in wonderful projects aimed at giving cacao back to the indigenous communities of Guatemala, who unfortunately have almost lost this part of their tradition. For hundreds of years, it was forbidden to use cacao in ceremonies because it was considered witchcraft. When you buy cacao, we can provide cacao to indigenous peoples for free and educate them on how to use it to fight malnutrition, reclaim their indigenous traditions and recover their ancient wisdom.

In addition, we support projects in indigenous communities, including support for addicts in public rehabilitation centers, cleaning and activating a corridor of ancient Mayan altars that have been abandoned, and individual projects to support specific people in the community who need immediate assistance.

Very special recommendation. The best ceremonial cocoa I have ever come across

I am not only enthusiastic about the philosophy and the fair and careful production, but all of my questions were patiently answered by Thomas & Theresa. As a shaman, I also have a trained energetic sense. I spent many years in South America myself and know what a difference it makes who and how plants are harvested and prepared. Everything about this cocoa is just right for me. As soon as the package arrived, I knew I had made the right choice. I knew the spirit of the plant was really appreciated and thus awakened here. The cocoa is really unique for me in this sense. Pure. Warm, heart-opening and very powerful. It brings me peace, centering and connection. It is the purity and tangible presence of the plant that makes it so special for me. No comparison to others that I have tried. I use it privately and from now on also in ceremonies. Absolutely heartfelt recommendation!!
